Message to President Tshisekedi on the occasion of his investiture

“On the occasion of your inauguration, on behalf of the Belgian Government, we would like to wish you every success and to assure you of Belgium's solidarity with the Congolese people.

The last few weeks have demonstrated the Congolese people's desire for change, transparency and democracy. A desire that cannot be ignored. 

As the elections were mired in doubt, we hope that the coming weeks will see progress towards inclusiveness, stability and development for the benefit of the Congolese people.

With this in mind, we wish you every success.

We hope that your strong personal ties with Belgium will strengthen relations between our countries for the benefit of our peoples."
